A Meitei man, 31-year old was abducted and murdered in the Churachandpur district of Manipur by unidentified armed Kuki militants according to his family.
The deceased has been identified as Mayanglambam Rishikantas Singh, from the Churachandpur district.
Rishikanta, son of M. Tombi Singh and the spouse of Chingnu Haokip.
The couple had been living together since December 19, 2025, in Churachandpur.
Initially, Rishikanta’s family became aware of what happened to his body when they saw a video on social media that showed him being executed. After showing it to friends and relatives, they found out he had been kidnapped and killed by armed men.
Manipur Man Married a Kuki Woman in Nepal
Speaking to the media a family member said that Rishikanta had married a Kuki woman while in Nepal.

He had been contactable on a regular basis until the outbreak of ethnic violence and had since lost contact with all of his family members
Rishikanta returned from Nepal on December 17, returned to Churachandpur two days later to be with his wife.
His wife states that three armed men entered their home on January 21st at around 6:30 p.m. The miscreants than took Rishikanta away at gunpoint. When she tried to stop, they overpowered her.
She says that she and Rishikanta were put in a car and driven to a remote area. The men threw the wife out of the car while they continued to drive Rishikanta.
The wife says that Rishikanta was taken to an area near the hills, where they shot him to death. A video of the incident went viral, causing outrage in many areas.
Rishikanta’s family members suspect that Kuki militants are responsible for the murder.
They state that when they approached Rishikanta’s wife for clarification, she said she didn’t know who the men were.
Family filed a complaint at Waikhong Police Station, demanding a thorough investigation and strict action against those involved.
According to that complaint, the family received a call from Chingnu Haokip at about 1:45 AM on 22nd January 2026 confirming that he was kidnapped and murdered.
Officials from the police have said that they have opened a case from those complaints and they are currently conducting their investigation into the case.
Police have registered a case, are verifying the video’s authenticity, and are working to identify the perpetrators.
