Kidney Misdiagnosis Case in Silchar Sparks FIR, Raises Concern Over Lab Accuracy

A kidney misdiagnosis case has surfaced in Assam’s Silchar, raising serious questions about the reliability of private diagnostic labs. A local businessman and social activist, Kumar Jeet, has alleged that a lab report wrongly showed kidney damage, causing him panic and distress.

Allegation of Wrong Report and Mental Distress

According to Kumar Jeet, he visited a private diagnostic centre in Silchar for routine tests. However, the report indicated abnormalities in his kidneys. As a result, he became anxious. He even claimed that he could not eat or drink properly for almost 24 hours after seeing the results.

Soon after, he decided to cross-check. He went to another reputed hospital for fresh tests. This time, the results showed that his kidneys were functioning normally. This contradiction raised doubts about the earlier report.

Moreover, he mentioned that he regularly undergoes check-ups in New Delhi every three months. All his previous reports had shown normal kidney function. Therefore, the sudden abnormal result came as a shock.

FIR Filed, Investigation Demanded

Following the incident, Kumar Jeet approached the laboratory for clarification. However, he was not satisfied with their response. As a result, he decided to take legal action.

He has now filed an FIR at Rangirkhari Police Station, alleging negligence and mental harassment. He has also demanded a proper investigation into the matter. According to him, such errors can have serious consequences, especially for patients who trust medical reports.

Meanwhile, the laboratory has not issued any official statement yet.

This kidney misdiagnosis case has once again highlighted the importance of accuracy in medical testing. Experts say even a small mistake can lead to fear, stress, and unnecessary treatment.

Authorities are expected to look into the matter. Until then, citizens are being advised to verify reports if they notice anything unusual.
