Journalist Health Insurance Scheme – Government of Tripura:
With the aim of providing health care protection to the working Journalist of the state, the Government of Tripura has launched the Tripura Journalist Health Insurance Scheme. The basic objective of the scheme is to financially protect the Journalist from monetary burden and liabilities that are a result of unfortunate health- related situation and emergencies. Under this scheme, the beneficiaries are eligible to receive coverage benefits up to RS 3 lakhs for a list of diseases that need hospitalization and others.
Eligibility for the Scheme:
Following eligibility criteria are necessary for the scheme :-
- Must be a working journalist
- Must be a permanent resident of the state
- Age must be in between 21-65 years
- Must be an accredited journalist by the state government or PIB
- Must not be covered under Ayushman Bharat Scheme or any other Health Insurance for central or State Government.
Benefits of the scheme:
Under the Tripura Journalist Health Insurance Scheme, beneficiaries will get medical care facilities for all the disease as listed by the State government after recommendation by the committee. The maximum coverage of benefit from all sources will be RS 3 lakh.
Scheme implementing agencies:
For implementation of the Scheme State Government shall invite EOI (Expression of Interest) from reputed Health Insurance companies of India. Health experts of the State will establish distinct criteria or eligibilities for a successful EOI process.
Procedure of Enrollment as beneficiary under the scheme:
- To be a eligible under the scheme as beneficiary, working journalist must apply to the Director, Information and Cultural Affairs with all supporting documents.
- Director, Information & Cultural Affairs will verify all the eligibilities through Sub-Divisional Magistrate and other concerned agencies.
- After completion of verification the Director, Information and Cultural Affairs will place the application with all necessary documents to the ” Tripura Journalist Health Insurance Scheme Recommendation Committee”(JHISRC).
- The State Government will enroll the applicant/applicant’s as beneficiaries under the scheme upon the Committee’s recommendation and subsequent approval.
List of Diseases covers under the Scheme:
The empaneled Insurance Company must provide cashless health facilities for all listed diseases as directed by the competent authority after the committee’s recommendation approval under the scheme.
List of Health Facilitation Centre or Hospital:
The empaneled Insurance Companies must offer health facilities in all state hospitals and reputed hospitals outside, as directed. Approval by the competent authority is necessary after the committee’s recommendation under the scheme.
Application Form:
The Application form availing benefit under the “Tripura Journalist Health Insurance Scheme” shall be submitted to the director. Information & Cultural Affairs Department. Any other additional information may be asked by the department as and when required.
