An IndiGo flight from Kuwait to Hyderabad was diverted to Mumbai on Tuesday after authorities received a threat message claiming a bomb was onboard.
The Airbus A321-251NX, operating as flight 6E1234, departed Kuwait at 1:56 am and landed safely at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 8:10 am.
An IndiGo spokesperson said the airline immediately alerted the authorities and cooperated fully with security teams. Passengers were given refreshments and continuous updates while the aircraft underwent detailed checks.
“The safety and security of our customers, crew, and aircraft are our topmost priorities,” the spokesperson stated.
The threat, reportedly received via email at Delhi airport, warned of a ‘human bomb’ onboard. Emergency responders and security personnel were kept on standby in Mumbai for the precautionary landing.
Authorities later confirmed the alarm was a hoax. A case has been registered at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad following a formal complaint.
This incident mirrors another hoax threat on November 23, when a Bahrain–Hyderabad flight was also diverted to Mumbai under similar circumstances.
No suspicious items were found, and all passengers and crew members were unharmed.
