IED Explosion Damages Railway Track in Kokrajhar, Train Services Halted

Kokrajhar

A powerful IED explosion late on Wednesday night damaged a section of the railway track between Kokrajhar and Salakati stations in Assam’s Kokrajhar district, leading to the suspension of train services and panic among passengers.

Preliminary reports suggest that the blast occurred about five kilometres east of Kokrajhar railway station, severely damaging a stretch of the track. As a safety measure, railway authorities halted all train movements on both up and down lines.

Several trains were stopped at nearby stations, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded and creating widespread fear. Teams from the Railway Department, security forces, and the bomb disposal squad rushed to the site to assess the damage and begin an investigation.

Authorities have not yet confirmed who was behind the attack. Meanwhile, security has been tightened across Kokrajhar, and a high-level investigation is underway to identify those responsible for the blast.
