Grand Preparations Underway at Kamakhya Temple to Celebrate Maha Ambubachi 2025 from June 22 to 26

Ambubachi Mela 2025  is going to start from June 22 to 26, in this period Kamakhya Temple Door will remain closed. Assam’s Guwahati started it gran preparation of the Maha Ambubachi Mela.

Kamakhya Temple is situated in Guwahati’s, Nilachal Hills and it is among the 51 sacred Shakti Peeths, and one of the four Adi Shakti Peeths. It is believed that her yoni (womb) fell here after Sati’s body was cut into pieces by Vishnu’s Sudarshan Chakra. It is believed during the Mela the Goddess Kamakhya undergoes her annual menstrual cycle, symbolizing the power of fertility and the worship of the yoni (womb).

Reopening Schedule

The Kamakhya Temple will reopen for darshan on June 26, following the completion of all prescribed rituals and purification processes.

Chief minister post the grand preparation of Kamakhya Temple by stating, “The Ambubachi Mahayog in 2025 is scheduled from 22-26 June when the sacred Nilachal Hills will host lakhs of devotees who will descend upon Kamrupá to celebrate Maa Kamakhya’s divine femininity. Our Govt is working across different avenues to ensure a smooth conduct of the Mela.”
