In a major move aimed at making highway travel more seamless and affordable for private vehicle owners. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday announced the launch of a FASTag-based Annual Pass system. The pass, priced at ₹3,000, will available from August 15, 2025. It designed specifically for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps and vans.

Aimed at Reducing Toll Hassles via FASTag Annual Pass

Gadkari emphasized that the new policy is a transformative step towards hassle-free highway travel, eliminating repeated toll payments for regular commuters and addressing longstanding concerns related to toll plazas within 60 km proximity.

“In a historic initiative, a FASTag based annual pass priced at ₹ 3,000 is being introduced from August 15, 2025. The pass will be valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 journeys, whichever is earlier.

This pass is specially designed for non-commercial private vehicles (cars, jeeps, vans etc.) only and will enable seamless travel on National Highways across the country.

A separate link for activation/renewal of Annual Pass will soon be made available on the Highway Travel App and NHAI/MoRTH websites, making the process simple and hassle-free.

This policy will address the long-standing concerns regarding toll plazas within a radius of 60 km and streamline toll payments through a single convenient transaction.

A dedicated link for pass activation and renewal will soon be accessible via the Rajmarg Yatra App, along with NHAI and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) websites. This will ensure a user-friendly and digital-first experience for all applicants.

The Annual Pass comes as a welcome relief to daily highway commuters, particularly those living in urban fringes and suburbs where multiple toll booths are located within short distances. Many have long voiced concerns over frequent toll deductions despite limited travel distance—an issue this pass aims to resolve.
