Fake Doctor Arrested in Sribhumi After RTI Probe Exposes

A fake doctor has been arrested in Sribhumi district after a detailed investigation revealed that he had been practicing without any valid qualifications. The accused, identified as Kankan Bhattacharjee, was detained by Sribhumi Police on Wednesday following a complaint filed by Nikhil Das, a resident of Silchar. As per reports, two fake doctor found, one arrested and second one Tahir Ahmed managed to escape during a raid in the Kanishail area in Sribhumi.

According to the complaint, Nikhil Das not only informed the Chief Minister’s Office and the Health Minister but also obtained the accused’s documents through the Right to Information (RTI) Act. The documents reportedly showed multiple inconsistencies, raising serious suspicion about Bhattacharjee’s medical credentials.

After discovering the discrepancies, the complainant notified the Joint Director of Health Services of Cachar and Sribhumi districts, the main office of the Health Department in Dispur, and the police intelligence wing. Following a prolonged investigation, police finally succeeded in arresting the accused.

Police sources revealed that Ankan Bhattacharjee had been running a chamber in the Latu Balipara area of Sribhumi district for a long time, providing medical services without holding any legitimate medical degree or authorized certification. His arrest has brought relief to locals who were unknowingly receiving treatment from an unqualified practitioner.
