Security Alert in Assam After Explosive Materials Seized at Badarpur Railway Station

Authorities heightened security in Assam’s Sribhumi district ahead Republic day celebrations after recovering large quantity of explosive materials from Badarpur Railway Station near the India–Bangladesh border. The alert increased security measures across the railway network, the Government Railway Police (GRP) said on Thursday after one held.

During routine security checks on Platform No. 1, Government Railway Police personnel noticed suspicious behaviour.

Detained a man named Abdul Rahim from the Nilambazar area in the Sribhumi District of Assam. Police recovered more than 10,000 explosive detonators from his possession.

Security agencies have launched a detailed investigation into the origin and intended use of explosives. Officials are further investigating for links with other illegal organization that transports explosives.

Strengthening surveillance at railway stations and other sensitive locations to prevent any threat to public safety.
