E-Rickshaw Prank Shock: Viral App Turns Off Vehicles Mid-Road in Delhi

A strange yet serious trend is spreading in Delhi. The E-Rickshaw Prank is now going viral on social media. Videos show people using mobile apps to shut down e-rickshaws remotely. As a result, drivers get stranded in the middle of the road.

Moreover, this is not just online content. It is affecting real lives. Influencers are recording such acts and posting them online. They connect to the vehicle’s battery system using Bluetooth. Then, with a single tap, the vehicle stops.

How It Works And Why It’s Dangerous

The apps, like BAT-BMS and others, are designed to monitor battery health. However, they also have control features. This is where the problem begins.

In many cases, there is no proper password protection. Because of this, anyone nearby can connect and switch off the vehicle.

Even though one app has added a password, another app still works easily. So, the risk continues. The E-Rickshaw Prank is not limited to just one platform.

Meanwhile, a reality check showed how quickly a vehicle can shut down. The display goes blank. The driver cannot restart it without the same app. This raises serious safety concerns.

Drivers Hit Hard, Govt Steps In

For drivers, this is more than a prank. It hits their daily income. Many have reported losing ₹400–₹500 in a single day. Some even had to push their vehicles back home.

Additionally, dealers say complaints are rising fast. Around 40 to 50 cases have already been reported in just a few days.

Now, the Delhi government has taken notice. Authorities have asked for a detailed report. Experts are also calling for strict EV security guidelines.

Clearly, this issue needs urgent attention. Because today it’s a prank. Tomorrow, it could risk lives.
