In a major breakthrough against the drug trade in Assam, Cachar Police achieved significant success at Borakhola after recovering 72.4 grams of heroin concealed inside six soap cases. The operation was carried out on the basis of a specific tip-off, highlighting the district police’s continued vigilance in combating narcotics trafficking.
According to officials, the heroin was recovered from a Bolero vehicle bearing registration number AS12 AL 9515 during an operation conducted at the Putichhara toll gate. Acting swiftly on the intelligence input, police personnel intercepted the vehicle and discovered the narcotics hidden in soap containers.
During the operation, police arrested Baharul Islam, who was present in the vehicle at the time of the raid. He was taken into custody on the spot for his suspected involvement in drug trafficking.
The successful operation was led by Officer-in-Charge Joseph V. Kebong along with Additional Superintendent of Police Rajat Kumar Paul. Their coordinated action ensured the timely interception of the vehicle and the recovery of the contraband.
