Brahmaputra River Rises Above Danger Level, Administration Alerts Public

Sumit Sattawan, the Commissioner of Kamrup Metro District Administration cum Chairman of the District Disaster Management, has issued an Alert and public advisory in response to the Brahmaputra River’s water level. The Water Level of Brahmaputra River rising above the danger level of 49.68 meter.

The advisory effective immediately and urges the residents who are living near the river front, river banks and nearby areas to stay alerted due to increase in water level of the river. This increase in water level can cause risk of breaches, embankment failures, and overflows.

The administration also stayed that those who will violate the given advisory may result in legal action under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other applicable law.
