The honorable Vice President of India has launched Deen Dayal Divyagjan Sahajya Scheme for person with disabilities (PWDs) in Assam. This scheme will provide benefits to the all the disabled people residing in the state. Subsequently, govt. will give a one time financial assistance of RS 5000 to the differently abled people for their treatment. According, this scheme will benefits around 4.5 lakh divyangjan residing in the state.
Mr. Venkaiah Naidu launches this scheme at the ceremony organized on the international day of person with disabilities. This scheme will surely change the mindset of the people towards the disabled people. The main aim to launch this scheme is to realize the dream for an inclusive society in which there is no discrimination on the grounds of disability. Moreover, these differently abled persons should be treated with empathy not sympathy.

Important features of Assam Deen Dayal Divyangjan Sahajya Scheme :
The main features of Assam Deen Dayal Divyangjan Sahajya Scheme are as follows :-
- The scheme will focus on changing the attitude of the society towards persons with disabilities and raising their standard of living.
- Accordingly, the State Govt. RS 5000 is going to provide a one-time grant of RS 5000 to the PWD for the purpose of their treatment.
- In Addition, the State Govt. will focus on providing loans to persons with disabilities in a hassle free manner through banks and other financial institutions.
- Thereafter, the whole society should encourage persons with disabilities in every possible way.
- Assam Government beneficiaries of Deen Dayal Divyangjan Sahajya Yojana will get the due amount of various schemes launched for them at the specified time.
- In the initial phase, about 1 lakh disabled people will benefit from this scheme.
- In addition, the State Govt. a budget of RS 250 crores for the successful implementation of this scheme.

Eligibility of this scheme :
- You must be resident of Assam.
- Disability certificate (people with 40% or more disability will be considered)
- There is no age limit, no educational qualification required.
ASSAM DISABILITY PENSION SCHEME :
Assam government provides pensions to the disabled people of the state. There are two different pension schemes for the disabled people of Assam. Indira Gandhi Nation Old Age Pension & Deen Dayal Divyangjan Sahajya Scheme. Under Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension government provides an amount of RS 300-500 per month and Under Deen Dayal Divyangjan Pension Achoni Scheme an amount of RS 1000 is provided per month. This helps in the upliftment of the community in society.

Assam Disability Pension / Deen Dayal Divyangjan Pension Registration- elegibility criteria :
- Firstly the applicant must be a permanent resident of the state of Assam.
- The pension must be facing at least 40% disability.
- The applicant must belong to the ‘serve’ disability category (80% or more) (For IGNDPS)
- Applicant must belong to BPL category.
- Should not be getting any other state or center- sponsored pension scheme.
- The applicant must be above 18 years of age (For IGNDPS)

1. First you need to the Assam government official website
2. On this page click on Apply for Disability Pension.
3. On the next page click on the Form for NSPA
4. Now fill out the application form correctly.
5. Attach all the required documents.
6. Submit the application form to the official
7. Your information on the application and documents will be verified.
8. If all information is correct Pension will be sanctioned.
Assam Disabled Pension amount benefit :
- Under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension RS 300 till the age of 79 and RS 500 after the age of 79.
- Under Deen Dayal Divyangjan Sahajya Scheme a one-time amount of RS 5000 is provided by the government of Assam.
- Under Deen Dayal Divyangjan Pension Achoni an amount of RS 1000 per month is provided by the government of Assam.
