Assam ’s ongoing crackdown on corruption has led to the arrest of 430 government employees since 2019, while 25 officials have been held for possessing disproportionate assets, official documents revealed,” reported PTI.
Most of the cases are still in the trial stage, with no convictions recorded so far, according to the documents.
Breakdown of Arrests
- 302 employees were arrested by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing of Assam Police.
- 88 employees were apprehended by the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell.
- 40 employees were arrested across different police stations in the state.
Job Dismissals and Proceedings
Of those arrested, 23 government employees have been dismissed from service. Judicial proceedings are underway for all apprehended employees.
A charge sheet has been filed against 291 of the corruption-accused employees, marking significant progress in legal processing.
