The State Government of Assam has initiated a housing loan scheme known as Apun Ghar Scheme (2025) to provide housing loan for the regular State Government employees on subsidized interest rates. This home loan will be provided through State bank of India.
The Scheme was launched in the year of 2017. The scheme has extending till 2026.
Assam CM Stated, “Supporting our employees in realizing their goal of a dream home has been our commitment. Under the ‘Apun Ghar’ scheme, so far, we have given ₹624cr in subsidy to over 43,000 Govt employees. Given the success of this scheme, we are extending it till March 2026.”
The State Bank of India (SBI) has normally offered housing loans to State Government employees at a reduced interest rate — 8.50% for women and 8.55% for men.
To make this more affordable, the State Government of Government will give an interest subsidy of 3.5%.
With this subsidy, employees can get a housing loan of up to ₹15 lakh at just 5.0% interest for women and 5.05% for men.

Apun Ghar Scheme 2025: Benefit
The Assam Government employees will get the home loan with a maximum loan amount of Rs.15 lakh without collateral security from the SBI bank.
The employees will get the loan with an interest subsidy of 3.5%. Only Permanent residents of Assam will eligible to get the loan.
Apun Ghar Scheme 2025 Eligibility
The applicant should be residents of Assam
Minimum age to apply: 21 years
Applicant must have at least 5 years of service remaining
Maximum age limit at loan repayment:
- 70 years for employees with pensionable service
- 60 years for employees with non-pensionable service
The loan must be fully repaid by the time the applicant reaches the respective maximum age.
Close relatives who are employees of the Government of Assam can jointly apply for a housing loan.
The government’s interest subsidy will be available on the combined loan amount, up to the approved limit.
Subsidy Provided
The Assam Government will offer a 3.5% interest subsidy on housing loans for its employees under this scheme.
After approval, the effective interest rate will be 5% for women and 5.05% for men.
This means the government will cover 3.5% of the total interest, and the remaining interest will be paid by the employee.
Document
- Passport-size photograph
- Identity proof (e.g., PAN card, Voter ID, Government-issued ID card)
- Proof of residence (e.g., utility bill, Aadhaar card, etc.)
- Latest salary slip showing all deductions, verified by the DDO
- Salary account statement for the last six months
- No Dues Certificate from existing banker (if salary is credited to a bank other than SBI)
- Personal assets and liabilities statement (in the bank’s prescribed format)
- Proof of minimum five years of service
- Land ownership documents (evidence of property ownership)
How to Apply for the Apun Ghar Scheme
Follow the steps below to apply:
Visit the official website of the Assam Government
On the homepage, go to the “Schemes and Projects” section.
Click on “Apun Ghar” and download the application form.
Fill out the form with all the required details and attach the necessary documents.
Submit the completed application form along with the documents to your Drawing and Disbursement Officer (DDO).
Note:
Once submitted, the DDO will forward your application to the State Bank of India (SBI) for further processing and loan disbursement.
